Funny how that works out

About three weeks after I moved to Wichita Falls, Rip came into the office, nodded his head towards the door and said, “What’s this about?” We looked out and saw a ginormous man hanging out at the front door. Of course my first guess was that Rip got him for me as a welcome gift, but no, it was Pro Strongman Matt WanAt from Wisconsin looking for a place to train. The picture above is from that night.

Matt became a come and go fixture here as work brings him to Texas frequently and since he was in season and flying back and forth to Europe to compete, he needed a good place to train. You never knew when you’d come in and see him sitting at the tables but it was always fun having him here.

A lot has gone on between that day and today, so much so that Matt flies in again today only this time to load up a truck and take me and Oz back with him to Wisconsin. Funny how that worked out, eh? You think you’re going one way and then life throws you a curve ball taking you on a completely different path.

The days at WFAC were never dull and I’m thankful for them, the people here, and especially Rip and Stef for everything they’ve done for us and for me as a coach. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks for the next Starting Strength seminar so it makes goodbyes bearable.

For now, byeeeeeeeeee.
